Meet Denise
Hi there, how are you doing? No really how are you holding up? We are in unprecedented times, and it’s tough. During these times, I feel especially called to work through a social justice, feminist, anti-racist lens. How does that show up in my work you ask? Well I will tell you: I will meet you exactly where you are at. I will look at how societal and cultural context plays a part in your struggles. If you are a part of any marginalized group, I believe you about your lived experience. I will give you the lead as the expert on those experiences.
My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, compassion, and humor. I truly
believe that every person’s growth is different and my role in our work together is to
learn what my client needs from me and support them in a safe and non-
judgmental space. I value the importance of cultural humility and actively seek to
create an inclusive therapeutic environment.
I am excited to work with adult clients individually as well as in couple’s therapy. I am particularly skilled in working with couples stuck in high conflict patterns. I am also passionate about working with parenting concerns including co-parenting, post-partum concerns, and loss of identity that can come with being a parent. My experience with substance use disorder, has
given me skills that help me support those who have friends, family, or partners of someone struggling with substance use. Other areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and life transitions.
Outside of work I am married with two boys. I love collecting hobbies! There are
too many to count, but some of my favorites are: Dungeons and Dragons, Texas
Hold-em, traveling, golf, and knitting and crocheting.
